Customer Booking Agreement
Effective May 2026 · Last updated May 2026
When you book a sitter through Reptisitter, you (the "Customer") and the sitter (an independent contractor, not a Reptisitter employee) enter into the service agreement described below. Reptisitter LLC provides the booking platform and payment processing; it is not a party to the service relationship between Customer and sitter. These terms supplement, and are incorporated into, our Terms of Service.
1. In-home access
By booking a visit, Customer grants the assigned sitter limited license to enter Customer's home solely for the purpose of caring for the reptile(s) identified at booking, during the dates and time windows confirmed. Customer is responsible for providing keys, lockbox codes, or other entry methods, and for notifying any household occupants of the sitter's scheduled visits.
2. Reptile husbandry instructions
Customer agrees to provide accurate, written care instructions before the first visit, including: species, feeding schedule, target temperatures and humidity, UVB schedule, medications (if any), handling preferences, and emergency veterinary contact. Sitter is not responsible for outcomes resulting from inaccurate, incomplete, or omitted instructions.
3. Reptile health, injury, and escape
Reptiles are inherently fragile animals whose health depends on enclosure conditions, prior care history, age, and species-specific factors largely outside the sitter's control. Customer acknowledges:
- Sitter will follow Customer's written husbandry instructions and exercise reasonable care, but cannot guarantee the reptile's health or survival.
- In the event of apparent emergency (visible injury, severe lethargy, prolapse, respiratory distress, etc.), sitter will attempt to contact Customer and may transport the reptile to the emergency vet Customer designated at booking. Reasonable vet costs incurred in good faith are Customer's responsibility.
- Escape risk: Customer is responsible for the security and integrity of all enclosures, lids, locks, and barriers. Sitter will report any escape attempt or successful escape immediately. Sitter is not liable for damage, injury, or loss arising from an enclosure failure unless caused by sitter's gross negligence or willful misconduct.
4. Property damage
Sitter agrees to use reasonable care while in Customer's home. Sitter is responsible for accidental property damage directly caused by sitter's negligence, subject to the limits and exclusions of Reptisitter's general liability insurance policy (placed through Next First Insurance Agency, Inc., effective December 12, 2025) and any additional terms described on the Our Promise page. Customer remains responsible for general homeowner perils (theft by third parties, weather damage, pre-existing conditions, etc.).
5. Photography and visit updates
Sitter may take photos of the reptile and immediate enclosure area solely to send Customer visit updates. Photos will not include identifiable images of Customer's home interior beyond what is necessary to document the reptile's condition, and will not be reused for marketing without Customer's separate written consent.
6. Cancellation
Customer may cancel a booking up to 48 hours before the first scheduled visit for a full refund (less payment-processor fees). Cancellations within 48 hours are subject to a 50% cancellation fee that goes to the sitter. No-shows are non-refundable.
7. Indemnification & release
Customer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Reptisitter LLC, its officers, employees, and the platform itself from any claim arising from (a) inaccurate or incomplete husbandry instructions, (b) enclosure or property defects existing before the visit, (c) acts of household members or third parties, and (d) any underlying medical condition of the reptile not disclosed at booking. Customer's sole recourse against the sitter is limited to claims arising from sitter's gross negligence or willful misconduct.
8. Reptisitter's role
Reptisitter LLC operates the booking platform and facilitates payment. Reptisitter screens sitters (Vetty background check, reptile-knowledge review) but does not direct or control the sitter's performance of services. The relationship between Customer and sitter is direct. Reptisitter's aggregate liability is limited to the platform service fee Reptisitter retained from the booking.
9. Dispute resolution
Disputes between Customer and sitter should first be raised through Reptisitter support (hello@repti-sitter.com), which will attempt informal mediation. Any unresolved dispute is governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, and the parties agree to exclusive jurisdiction in the state and federal courts located in Pierce County, Washington.
By completing a booking through Reptisitter, Customer acknowledges they have read, understood, and agree to this Customer Booking Agreement and the linked Terms of Service.
