Independent Contractor Agreement

1. Independent Contractor Status

By using the Reptisitter platform as a sitter, you acknowledge and agree that you are an independent contractor and not an employee, agent, joint venturer, or partner of Reptisitter LLC. Nothing in this agreement shall be interpreted or construed as creating or establishing an employment relationship between you and Reptisitter.

As an independent contractor, you are solely responsible for determining the manner and means by which you perform pet sitting services. Reptisitter provides a platform to connect sitters with pet owners but does not direct, control, or supervise the performance of your services.

2. Control of Availability and Schedule

You have full and sole control over your own availability and schedule. You may choose when to make yourself available on the platform, which days and times you work, and how many bookings you accept. Reptisitter does not set, require, or dictate your working hours.

• You are free to accept or decline any booking request at your discretion
• You set your own availability calendar and working hours
• You may take time off at any time without penalty (subject to existing booking commitments)
• You are not required to maintain a minimum number of bookings or hours

3. Acceptance of Assignments

You accept your own assignments through the Reptisitter platform. Reptisitter does not assign, mandate, or require you to accept any particular booking.

• You review each booking request and decide whether to accept or decline
• You have the right to negotiate service terms directly with pet owners
• You set your own rates and pricing for your services
• You determine the methods and approach for providing care to reptiles

4. Local Legality Compliance

You accept full responsibility for compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws, regulations, ordinances, and licensing requirements related to the services you provide.

• You are responsible for obtaining any required business licenses or permits in your jurisdiction
• You are responsible for understanding and complying with local animal care regulations
• You are responsible for your own tax obligations, including self-employment taxes, income taxes, and any other applicable taxes
• You are responsible for maintaining any insurance you deem necessary for your services
• You are responsible for compliance with any local zoning laws that may apply to in-home pet sitting

5. Tax Obligations

As an independent contractor, you are solely responsible for all tax obligations arising from your work on the Reptisitter platform. Reptisitter will not withhold any taxes from your earnings.

• You are responsible for paying all federal, state, and local taxes on your earnings
• You may receive a 1099 form from Stripe if your earnings meet the applicable IRS threshold
• You are encouraged to consult with a tax professional regarding your obligations
• You are responsible for making estimated quarterly tax payments if required

6. No Employee Benefits

As an independent contractor, you are not entitled to any employee benefits from Reptisitter, including but not limited to health insurance, retirement plans, paid vacation, sick leave, workers' compensation, or unemployment insurance. You acknowledge that Reptisitter will not provide any such benefits.

7. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Reptisitter LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your services as an independent contractor, including but not limited to claims related to pet care, property damage, or personal injury.

8. Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time, for any reason, with or without cause. Upon termination, you must fulfill any outstanding booking commitments you have accepted, and Reptisitter will process any remaining payments owed to you.

9. Governing Law

This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the state in which Reptisitter LLC is registered, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
